Effective October 6, 2023, Marion County Utilities (“MCU”) will no longer accept Short Water Line (“SWL”) program applications.  

SWL eligible applicants who have received a project ID, but have not yet had water main construction plans designed by MCU, or received notice of a Board approved Resolution establishing the service area and per-parcel share are subject to having their project not approved. Upon notice of non-approval of the SWL project, a new Water Main Extension application in accordance with Resolution 21-R-381 will be provided to support the line extension project.  

If applicants requiring a water main extension do not want to participate in the Water Main Extension Program with MCU, they may hire their own licensed engineer to design the required water main plan(s), and hire their own underground utility contractor for construction at their own cost.  Using this method waives all tracking of potential benefitting parcels and their payback to the owner.  Owners are required to pay 100% of all costs directly to the licensed engineer, underground utilities contractor, and shall coordinate all construction with MCU.
