We ensure water & wastewater development plans follow the county's Land Development Code (LDC) from planning & reviewing stages, to final project clearance. Land Development Code design & construction standards are available online; last revised April 13, 2023.

The county's Land Development Code excludes the cities of Ocala, Belleview, & Dunnellon which comply with their own municipal regulations.

• Oversight of our capital improvement program plans design
• Assists in the development of utility system designs
• Modeling of countywide utility systems
• Finds & implements grant opportunities to offset owner costs for water main extensions, and septic-to-sewer initiatives
• Maintains Marion County Land Development Code (LDC) design & construction standards
• Reviews & approves online FDOT permit applications

• Reviews site plans for utility applicability & county Land Development Code compliance
• Applies, modifies, & releases building permit holds
• Invoices for new service connections related to new permits
• Creates new commercial customer accounts
• Creates meter & service tap work orders for our Field Services team
• Creates water & wastewater pressure test work orders

• Reviews site plans for Development Review projects including major & minor site plans, improvement plans, plats, & utility plans
• Provides data from our plants to engineers for permit applications to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection
• Assists developers with utility-related waivers
• Ensures pretreatment standards for fats, oils, grease, hair, fur, sand or petroleum products discharged in to the wastewater collection system
• Determines developer agreement applicability, & support (as applicable)
• Calculates water & wastewater capacity charges per the Land Development Code
• Handoff of approved development projects to our construction team for buildout, certification, connection, & closeout
• Creates support maps for WATER & WASTEWATER pressure tests

• Provides water & wastewater availability for parcel inquiries
• Offers project oversight for owner-required water main extensions including design, our pricing, & agreement approvals. APPLICATION
• Maintains the Benefiting Lot List every month for all water main extension program parcels to identify payback value and timeline
• Manages benefiting-lot reimbursement (as applicable)

• Acquires location data for utility infrastructure installations through field visits & modern survey equipment
• Maintains our GIS mapping layer using as-builts & state plane data through project closeout
• Updates the county’s online interactive map (utility layers), which offers assistance to those researching central water availability
