Below is a list of facilities that require a backflow prevention device, though the below list is not all encompassing and should only be used as a guideline.

• Automotive/Marine repair facility
• Beverage processing plant
• Car wash
• Chemical plant
• Exterminators
• Fertilizer plant
• Film processing
• Hospital
• Ice manufacturing plant
• Irrigation system
• Irrigation with auxiliary water source (well, canal, lake, reuse/reclaim water)
• Laboratory
• Laundry (commercial cleaners)
• Manufacturing facility
• Medical/Dental clinic
• Mortuary
• Nursing home
• Packing house
• Paint/Body shop
• Petroleum/Fuel stations
• Piers/Dock
• Private sewer lift station serviced by public water supply
• Restaurant
• School
• Swimming pools with pipe fill line
• Veterinary clinic

It is a requirement that every backflow prevention device be inspected annually by a certified backflow tester.

The results of the inspection must be submitted to our team's backflow & cross-connection control coordinator.

Backflow prevention device testers commonly submit the annual inspection results to our office as part of the inspection service.

Upon receipt of the test results, our team will add information about your device to your account in our system.

Customers with backflow prevention devices recorded in our system receive a notice & reminder directly from our office that testing is overdue.

Once the annual inspection is completed, the testing company will submit the completed test results to our team.

Note: Backflow prevention devices are added to the county database once they are inventoried and tested.
