Learn about septic-to-sewer projects
Protecting our Primary Focus Areas
To reduce the contamination of our aquifer & waterways, Marion County is implementing a septic-to-sewer conversion program.
Mandatory connections to the Marion County Utilities central sewer system will be in areas of unincorporated Marion County designated by county commission resolution as “Program Areas."
Grant funding is available to cover the cost
to the property owner located in the program areas!
Program areas will continue to be identified by resolution of the county commission where owners of improved properties will have grant funding provided to cover the cost of such connection within the allotted time.
Silver Springs Shores
There are four septic-to-sewer phases in Silver Springs Shores that will generally consist of project areas composed of 400-600 lots that will require the design & construction of a sewer collection system & water transmission system to serve the lots within the project area. This will include all aspects of the associated sewer & water system expansions.
Phase I
Phase I project area encompasses 192 acres & is comprised of 455 lots, of which 212 are occupied & have an existing septic tank. The project area abuts County Road 464 (SE Maricamp Road) & Spring Road. Improvements are anticipated that may impact the abutting roads.
Surveying and engineering design are underway.
